Hi again, future European homeowner!

On Sunday, Europe was handed a free hour.

At 3am the clocks quietly rolled back to 2am, and all of us woke up with sixty bonus minutes nobody asked for. (If you’re in the US or Canada, yours arrives this Sunday. Consider this your advance warning.)

So what did we do with this gift?

Mostly, we stood in the kitchen arguing with the oven. The phone fixed itself. The laptop fixed itself. Even the car fixed itself. The oven clock is still living in summer time, out of principle, and will stay there until March when it’s accidentally right again.

But here’s the thing. An hour is a funny little unit. At your desk, it’s a meeting about a meeting. In the right house, it’s a coffee on a balcony that turns into two. It’s a walk to the bakery that takes forty minutes because three neighbours stopped you to chat. It’s a chapter by the fire. It’s a swim with no good reason to get out.

Same sixty minutes. Wildly different value.

So this week, we asked one question about every house: what would you do with an extra hour here? Turns out, quite a lot.

But before we kick off, here’s a message from our friends at Morales Basics:

Spain has good taste. Now someone's writing about it

If you're buying a place in Spain, at some point you want to know what to wear there, where to eat, and what's actually worth the money.

Morales Basics is Carlos Morales García's running list: fashion, watches, food and travel, tested and worn rather than just photographed. No hype, no sponsored gushing. He's now posting in English on X, which is the easiest place to follow along as he finds things.

If you have a business or a property for sale and are interested in advertising with us - reach out.

Right. Let’s spend that hour wisely.
