Hi again, future European homeowner!

Let’s talk about dinner. Depending on where you currently live, dinner might just be a 15-minute logistical exercise. You stand over the kitchen counter, eat something out of a plastic container, reply to an email, and mentally prepare for tomorrow. It is efficient, but it isn't exactly joyful.

In the Mediterranean, a table is not just a piece of wooden furniture. It is the absolute center of the universe.

It is where a "quick lunch" accidentally turns into a three-hour debate about olive oil. It is where neighbors drop off extra tomatoes, friends show up unannounced, and the wine keeps magically appearing. Most importantly, no matter who you are or where you came from, if you walk into the right courtyard or the right village square, there is always a seat at the table waiting for you.

This week, we went looking for homes that offer that exact kind of hospitality. We found off-market Tuscan estates, French B&Bs, and even a historic Portuguese windmill.
