Happy Friday, friend!
Tomorrow is Halloween, which means millions of grown adults are about to spend real money on a costume they’ll wear for four hours and then stuff in a closet until 2031.
We’d like to suggest an upgrade.
This year, go as “person who owns a house in Europe.” No face paint, no itchy wig, and nobody asks you to explain it. You just casually mention your terrace in Lazio and let people work it out for themselves.
It also lasts a lot longer than one night. And unlike the inflatable dinosaur suit, it might actually go up in value.
This week’s costume rack has something for everyone. There’s an Umbrian village home with the beams already exposed, a former village grocery in France, and a two-terrace apartment for €25,000. There’s also the most Halloween property we have ever featured: a nine-bedroom cave house in Granada. It’s not even scary and has a fireplace.
But before we kick off, here’s a message from our friends at Morales Basics:
The part of moving to Spain nobody writes a guide for.
There's no shortage of advice on taxes, visas and price per square metre. What nobody tells you is where to eat once you land, what to wear in 35 degrees without looking like a tourist, or which jacket, shoe or watch is actually worth the money. Morales Basics is Carlos Morales García's running list of all of it, tested and worn rather than just photographed. No hype, no sponsored gushing, just what's genuinely worth knowing.
